Information Technology (here after IT) is an integral part of organization and business environment nowadays. IT influences the way we perform our day-to-day socio-economic activities. It is rapidly transforming organizations, industries and macro-environments. Investing in IT enhances competitiveness, operational efficiencies and also provides better work environments for employees. In an era where every company is evolving into a digital entity, it's imperative for every manager/executive to develop an understanding of new and emerging technologies, including their capabilities and the business opportunities they offer. Hence, it is essential for future managers particularly non-IT managers to recognize the new sources of opportunities and threats as a consequence of rapid advancements in IT.
Program Objectives
- To provide participants with a managerial overview of emerging technologies such as SMACIT (Social, Mobile, Analytics, Cloud, Internet of Things), AI, and blockchain, analyzing their capabilities and potential for business organizations.
- To explore the relationship between emerging IT and business strategy and its strategic relevance.
- To equip participants to make informed decisions utilizing emerging IT paradigms (SMACIT), thereby enhancing organizational outcomes.

The pedagogy of the program is a mix of lectures, case studies and technology demonstrations.

Introduction Module: IT as a strategic tool, Digital Strategy
Digital Fluency Module: Managerial Overview of Tech Trends: Internet of things, cloud computing, AI, Blockchain, augmented reality and digital platforms.
Management Challenges Module: Change management required with the new and emerging technologies.
Profile of Programme Director(s)
Prof Jang Bahadur Singh is an associate professor in the Information Systems and Analytics Area, IIM Tiruchirappalli. He holds a doctorate from IIM Bangalore and M. Tech from IIT Kharagpur. His current research focuses on understanding information technology related societal issues in India (such as digital divide and digital literacy) using large scale publically available datasets. His interest also encompasses application of machine learning techniques for business-decision making. His teaching interest includes management information systems, business analytics and artificial intelligence for managers. He has conducted sessions in business analytics related management development programs for working executives at IIM Trichy and other leading management institutes.
